Protein is the basic: Protein is the basic building block for muscles and body organs. The only essential "macronutrient" are protein and fats. Carbohydrate is non essential for life. But increasing your intake of protein makes it easier vto build and repair muscle from exercise. Plus it is metabolized slowly, helps fight off hunger much better than carbs.
