Variable: We have seen in recent news the effects of concussions in professional sports like football. Common symptoms are headaches, memory issues, and if really severe dementia -like symptoms. Most likely these would progress with age.

Can be cumulative: Most patients recover from a single concussion with little neurological sequelae. However, multiple concussions can lead to long term effects such as headaches, memory problems, cognitive decline, and ultimately dementia. Mri data on patients with concussions has demonstrated areas of injury particularly in the white matter tracks.

Definitely: Single episode of concussion almost always resolves. It is the repeated concussions that cause serious delayed problems. Unsteady gait, severe loss of memory etc. Are some of the examples of late effects.
