Nasty: Result of thiamine deficiency in alcoholics or malnourished pts., confusion, hallucinations, delusions, memory loss, double vision, gait incoordination, even stupor or coma. Prompt treatment with injections of thiamine can reverse much of this, but at least 25 % have permanent memory problems, (korsakoff).
