Pseudo Cushing's: Depression can lead to physiologic changes in which can result in symptoms and labs which are similar to cushing's syndrome. There are certain special lab tests which involve watching the rise and fall of cortisol and its regulating hormone, acth which can help distinguish the changes caused by depression and changes caused by a tumor, genetic disease, or medications. Treatment varies by cause.

It's the reverse: Cushing's syndrome can cause depression, but depression does not cause cushing's syndrome. Treatment involves treating the underlying cause of the disorder. Drugs, surgery or sometimes radiation therapy are used to treat cushing's.
