Possibilities...: Your cough may be a sign of bronchospasm. It is possible you have COPD as a result of your smoking. Smoking cessation is necessary to decrease airway inflammation so congrats on quitting. You need to see your doctor so this cough can be diagnosed and treated. There is no cure for COPD but treatments are available to control symptoms, including the cough so see your doctor asap!
