What will barium cat scan show of pelvis/ abdomen?

All pelvis & abdomen: All structures from diaphragm to groin will be visualized by a contrast ct scan. Consuming oral contrast distinguishes gut from surrounding structures; IV contrast better delineates solid organs. Even blood flow, neurologic impingement, hernias, etc. Are made apparent by ct, typically to a resolution of about 5mm.

Solid/hollow organs: Barium outlines GI tract; IV contrast helps outline solid organs. Expect to get views of stomach, duodenum, small bowel, colon, rectum; liver, spleen, , gall bladder/bile ducts, pancreas, adrenals, kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate or uterus, tubes, ovaries, vagina, lymph nodes, arteries, veins, assorted muscles. Generally get a view of diaphragm, lower lungs, pleura, spine, pelvis. More stuff.
