Pentasa (mesalamine): Pentasa (mesalamine) or Mesalamine is one of several
medications used to treat crohn's disease. It is designed to reduce the inflammation in the intestine and thus aid in controlling symptoms.

Minimal at best: Pentasa (mesalamine) is marketed as being released in the small bowel. It may reduce some symptoms from crohn's disease. But there's no evidence that it works for long-term management of crohn's disease or prevention of crohn's related complications.
