Mostly positive: Most parathyroid surgery is done to correct hypercalcemia. Having excess calcium in your blood can cause a lot of problems: abdominal pain, stomach ulcer, blood pressure issue, constipation, bone pain, kidney stone, confusion..... It is one surgery that generally makes patient happy! pick an experienced surgeon and you will be fine.

Normal calcium: Most common reason to remove the gland is to correct elevated blood calcium. Once tumor is out that should happen quickly.
