What are the symptoms of optic neuritis?

Blurred vision: The hallmarks of optic neurits are blurred vision (decreased acuity), darkening of vision with loss of color perception, and local tenderness or pain with movement suggesting an intra-orbital inflammatory process. There are multiple causes of optic neuritis, it can affect one or both eyes, and the etiologies are somewhat age related. The patient may be aware of a blind spot in the affected eye.

Visual loss: Typically, an acute or subacute decline of vision in one eye associated with pain on eye movement, and decreased intensity of color vision. The problem responds well to intravenous steroids, but may be the initial symptom in ms, depending on presence or absence of lesions on mri. (statistically, this could be a risk as high as 80% over several yrs.).

Optic neuritis : Blurry vision, decreased perception of color and contrast, blind spots, pain or discomfort with eye movement, blurry vision when exercising or eating/drinking something hot can all be symptoms of optic neuritis.
