Botox : Botox paralyzed muscle so the muscular action doesn't make wrinkles in the skin. Restylanecis a hyaluronic acid filler which fills the valleys of wrinkles to make them go away.

Compare injectables: Botox is a type of neurotransmitter blocker, a class of medicine including Dysport and xeomin (incobotulinumtoxin a). They all temporarily block muscle contraction to smooth the skin and fine wrinkles overlying the treated muscle. Restylane is a soft tissue filler made from hyaluronic acid (a component of skin). There are more types of injectable fillers, which all add volume to the treated deep and fine wrinkled skin.

Differently!: Botox and Restylane (dermal fillers) are not similar at all and they are not interchangeable. Botox relaxes the muscles under the skin which allows the skin to move less and have less wrinkles. Motion wrinkles go away quickly, resting wrinkles take multiple treatments. Restylane (dermal fillers) is filler that replaces lost volume in the face. It works great for fixing facial contour, it does very little for wrinkles.

See below: Botox works by temporarily interrupting the connection between the nerves and muscles of the face, resulting in weakness or paralysis of the muscles. This allows the lines in the skin caused by repetitive motion to "heal" (similar to putting a fractured bone in a cast). Restylane (and all dermal fillers) work by replacing volume that has been lost in the skin or the fat beneath the skin.

Wrinkle reduction: Both Botox and Restylane (dermal fillers) are great options to improve the skin, reduce wrinkles, and rejuvenate the face. These cosmetic treatments compliment one another. Botox helps smooth the skin by relaxing facial muscles, especially the areas between the eyebrows and forehead. Restylane (dermal fillers) adds volume to reduce wrinkles, especially the lips and area around the lips.

Botox: Botox, Dysport and xeomin (incobotulinumtoxin a) act by relaxing muscles which are creating skin folds, like crows feet and frown lines.Dermal fillers such as retylane, Perlane an juvederm act by adding volume to tissues, such as in areas of fine lines or "deflated" cheeks or lips. They two groups often work well in concert.See a board certified facial plastic surgeon to determine if either (or both) would work for you.

Botox/restylane: Botox is a neurotoxin injected into muscles to reduce dynamic wrinkles. Restylane (dermal fillers) is a filler that can fill in lines. Be sure to have your face evaluated by a board certified facial plastic surgeon.
