Etiology: Neurofibromatosis (nf) 1 is called von recklinghouse, caused by single gene disorder on chromosome 17, causes non-cancerous lumps. Nf 2 also called central nf is a mutation of merlin in chromosome 22q12, 10% of all nf and causes bilateral acoustic tumors.

Yes: Nf 1 causes benign tumors typically in the skin nerves and the spinal nerve roots. Nf 2 typically causes tumors in the brain commonly in the eight nerve of hearing and balance and also sometimes meningiomas and others.

Yes: Neurofibromatoses are genetic disorders of the nervous system.Mainly affect the growth and nerve cell tissue.Known as neurofibromatosis(NF1)&(NF2).NF1 is the more common,multiple café au lait spots (patches of tan or light brown skin) and neurofibromas(soft growths on or under the skin).Enlarged deformed bones and curvature of spine.NF2 mainly benign brain tumors, acoustic and vestibular neuromas.
