What exactly is a sesamoid bone (in hand) and when does it require treatment?

Extra bone: Sesamoid bone is an extra bone that usually forms in a tendon. Knee cap is an example of a normal sesamoid bone. It may require treatement only if it is interfering with the function of your hand. Even then conservative treatment should be given a long trial.
