A member asked:

My cousin has a ' hole in heart' between the two atria. will he be okay?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably: Most congenital heart defects are a combination of several defects. A lot of them require some degree of shunting to allow the patient to survive like an asd. In older patients these holes usually need to be closed before they cause heart failure or stroke.
