Developmental Issues: People with autistic symptoms, especially people who are more severly affected, may display a variety of developmental delays, including difficulties with control of bodily functions. That might be why some people automatically assume all people with autism will have this difficulty. Of course, this is a variable problem, and is not seen in every person with autism.
