A member asked:

Are you able to get all the necessary vitamins you need with a vegan diet?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not really: The obvious vitamin deficiency with a vegan diet is b-12. This vitamin is found most commonly in meat and fish. Vitamin B12 deficiency can boost blood levels of homocysteine, an Amino Acid implicated as a strong risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Studies have suggested that high homocysteine levels can promote blockages in arteries over time, possibly leading to heart disease and stroke.
