Liver Biopsy: With hepatitis c, a liver biopsy is often required at the time of initial diagnosis to document any microscopic changes that are present in the liver at baseline. Additional biopsies may be required at a later date to assess benefit of treatment or progression of disease. Also, if there is any change in your blood studies a biopsy may be warranted.
