Lichen planus: Lichen planus is an inflammatory skin disease--a cousin of psoriasis. If it is no longer itchy, it may be dormant, quiet, under control right now. Because you have had inflamed spots in the past, it can leave dark marks behind. They often fade with time, but if you are darker pigment, they may last a long time.

Consult MD: Since lichen planus is not cureable and your md has treated it as a dermatosis i would follow his/her advise and treat it as they indicate it should be treated. Sometimes it can go away on its own and is not contagious. Go on living your life and listen and treat like md recommends. Good luck.
