More than 140/90: If the upper number is 140 or higher, or the lower number is 90 or higher, then hypertension would be diagnosed. The cause and treatment then needs evaluated. It may be due to overweight, high salt, alcohol, medications. If lifestyle changes fail to improve BP then drug therapy any be needed, which can reduce heart attack, stroke and kidney disease risk. Worth getting BP checked regularly!
