That's not it: That is not how iud's work - they absolutely are not designed to cause infertility. Can one still get infected and potentially cause infertility? Yes - your doc should have told you that. But with the mirena, (levonorgestrel) it is vanishingly unlikely. Bottom line - my daughter has one. I trust Mirena (levonorgestrel) without reservation.
