I have a mirena (levonorgestrel) iud, would taking st. john's wort decrease the iuds effectiveness?

Yes.: There is a potential for decreased effectiveness of the contraception. While I personally believe this risk to be low due to the nature of the Mirena (levonorgestrel), (levonorgestrel) there is no specific data on Mirena (levonorgestrel) and St. John's. I would consider an alternative to the St John's wort or stop it altogother.

Best to not use: supplements as there are no studies regarding interactions of medications you have been prescribed.
