How long does an epidural anesthetic last?

Epidural anesthetic: It depends on why it was given. If for childbirth, the epidural lasts a few hours at most once it is removed. If for back pain or a pinched nerve, an epidural anesthetic also contains a steroid so the effect on pain can last months.
