If unprotected: It may be okay depending on the x-rays but even if stable i would want it protected like in a cam walker boot, or something to keep stability. Always follow the guidelines set by your doctor who made the diagnosis.

Bad idea: Not only can it slow healing.... It can knock the bones out of alignment and cause healing in a mal aligned position! no, no, no!
