A member asked:

Can excessive amount of fat on your tummy affect breathing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, if visceral fat: On occasion, a large amount of intra-abdominal fat may contribute to compression of the diaphragm particularly in the supine position or may just make it physically more diffficult to breath due to mechanical resistance but this is usually only in severe forms of morbid obesity.
