My 4+ daughter has barking cough.she gets this 6-7 times in a year and it stays for 10-12 days. this time she's breathing so deeply that her tummy movement is visible.please suggest till which age kid gets this cough and how it can be avoided. thnx?

This sounds like it could be a mild form of asthma. Proper labeling cannot occur without a full history, exam and testing. Proper treatment can reduce intensity of many such afflictions. They may or may not get better with age and could get worse, especially if no treatment is miniated early in the process.

Please see acute care right away. Her tummy breathing indicates that she requires further evaluation and treatment. Are the coughing episodes triggered by any environmental source such as smoke exposure, pollen or dust? Viral illness is a common cause of prolonged cough in this age group. Keep all vaccinations updated.
