What exactly does a spironolactone pill do to the body?

Anti aldo, anti andr: Based on your email, i assume you are female. Spironolactone is used in pcos syndrome to decrease androgens leading to hirsuitism. It is a diuretic with anti aldosterone and anti-androgen properties.
