Is there some sort of threshold for normal vs. anemia, ?with respect to one's cbc levels?

Yes.: There are established normal levels for different age groups regarding CBC findings. Numbers that are barely lower than these ranges will show early anemia. If numbers are outside of these ranges, additional a repeat of the initial CBC may be ordered.
