I would like an explanation as to why my ferritin and transferrin saturationlevels are usually low, yet my cbc is normal. which i dont understand. as my cbc count counteracts the anemia i do have heavy periods. could that be the reason?

Low iron storage reflected by low ferritin level. Your hemoglobin/hematocrit remains in normal range so far but are likely to drop if you don’t take iron supplement.

Ferritin levels are a measure of iron stores. Iron store have to be depleted for a person to become anemic. Thus a normal Hb does not exclude iron deficiency. Heavy periods are the commonest cause of iron deficiency in women. Take oral iron and multivitamins. Wish you good health!
