Jaw trouble exists!: Jaw pain can exist in many forms. In my 29 years of practice, the most common cause for jaw pain with yawns are due to malfunction of the jaw joint. Prior history of jaw trauma, arthritis of the jaw joint, a dislocated jaw bone, inflammation, or infection in or near the jaw all can trigger pain. This should best be managed by a practitioner well versed in jaw pain. There are even TMJ specialists.
