Denture adjustment: Consult your dentist to see if it can be adjusted. Sometimes the back of the denture can be too long and needs to be shortened. Mouthwash or spray may help numb the tissue in the throat area.

Reduce the reflex : The gag reflex is a strong reaction and can be very frustrating when it comes time to swallow a pill, have a dental x-ray, or wear a denture. One trick is to wet a wooden tongue depresser and dip it in salt and place it into the roof of the mouth just in front of the gag reflex. Hold it there and move back a bit. Do this several times a day moving back a bit wil train the brain to stop gagging.
