Depends: Upon the procedure you chose. The traditional laparoscopic procedures can be painful for upto 48 hours after. The essure involves some pain as the local anesthetic is administered for about a minute or so and is painless thereafter in my own patient experiences.

Depends on procedure: Most patients now opt for an in office procedure called the essure. The one i did this morning in my office took less than two minutes and the patient and i were chatting the entire time.
