Varies: Spina bifida has a wide range of severities, it will depend on the neurologic level, whether there are urologic problems, and whether there was a shunt placed (neurosurgical brain procedure). Patients with very low level lesions can live relatively normal lives, whereas higher level patients (more involved), may have more difficulty.
