Perhaps.: There are so many variables with dental insurance that the only way to know is check your benefit brochure. You can see if they allow schedule 4 or d or if it says orthodontia benefits and what the lifetime max is. Or...Call customer service. They may not have a paying benefit but a reduced fee with a contracted preferred provider.

Yes, but........: All insurance companies offer plans that cover almost any procedure you want. The real issue is what plan your employer has bought for you. In these tough times, companies are buying less expensive plans that cover few services and that have low dollar limits. Always remember that you get what you pay for.

Orthodontia : It depends on your plan within the insurance company. Blue cross blue shield may have 50 different plans. Some with orthodontic coverage, some not. Check with your hr person at work or call your insurance company and ask them. The number should be on your card. Many orthodontic offices will call for you if you schedule an exam. I know we do a complimentary check with scheduled exams.

Limited amount: Most dental insurance plans have some limitations on orthodontic treatment... From a lifetime maximum to a limit on the age of the patient you are best to check on your policy to see what your policy covers. What the other doctors have stated about the difference in insurance policies is exactly correct. Each policy is different, even with the same companies.

Depends on your plan: Bc/bs is a medical plan. You must have separate dental coverage with orthodontics specifically included. To pay for a service, the insurance company must collect a premium to fund the benefit. Ask your hr office, employer, or call your local bc/bs office directly and ask them if you have coverage.

Yes, but depends: If you have bcbs insurance, it's best to contact your insurance benefits representative or bcbs directly or better yet, ask your orthodontic specialist to look into your insurance coverage as they handle this everyday. Insurance coverages are highly variable, individual, and regional, so you will need to know if you are specifically covered.
