DMAE: Dimethylaminoethanol is used for water treatment & in the coatings industry & as additive to paint removers & to protect vs. Erosion. It is also precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine & also it is processed by the liver into choline. It was shown to elevate the mood & increase alertness & somewhat improve adhd, although no conclusive studies so far.

Dimethylaminoethanol: Dimethylaminoethanol really doesn't have strong medical evidence to support it's use as a sleep agent or an anxiolytic. Some people have used it to reportedly improve cognition & mood. I don't think the research is there currently.
