Can't tell: If the question is whether the cause of the back pain is musculoskeletal or metastatic disease, the way it changes with position and movement, or lack thereof, is not helpful. Cancer pain is due largely to microfractures that may be worse when you move, and disk or facet pain may also be made worse by movement. Imaging should help make the distinction. Good luck.

LungCa &back pain: Back pain when you have cancer can be very difficult and a bit unnerving to deal with...Is it my cancer or just regular back pain? Usually if it is related to your cancer having spread to the spine you will have pain which gets increasingly worse over time, time being weeks not months or years. It can be worse with movement or just ache at night. Can be better at rest but not always. Tell ur doc.
