Harrington: In the early 1980's the harrington rod was still the most system to corect scoliosis. Following that period the cotrel & dubousset or cd instrumentation has been the most frequently used. Also the luque instrumentation system is used in young children when needed.

Varies: Most modern instrumentation uses either titanium or an alloy such as cobalt chrome. Much older instrumentation was usually stainless steel. The transition from steel to the newer materials began about 20 years ago and so it would vary. You could find out by getting your operative note from your medical record and seeing what ws used. Thank you for your question.
