What are the symptoms when you get salmonella?

Diarrhea, fever: Salmonella bacteria may cause mild to severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, and vomiting for several days. Prolonged infections are infrequent, but can be quite serious, particularly in the very young or elderly. Infection with salmonella typhi can also lead to the development of typhoid fever, an infection that is best treated with antibiotics.

Salmonella: Possible salmonella symptoms include: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), musculoskeletal aches ; pains, fever, chills ; headaches. If salmonella enters the blood stream it can cause endocarditis (infection involving heart), osteomyelistis (bone infection) ; infection of brain/ spinal cord (meningitis). Salmonella can sometimes be fatal.
