No: Infants need the sutures in the skull to be open to allow for the skull to grow. Without correction, this can lead to not only cosmetic problems, but increased pressure in the brain.

No: Usually more a cosmetic problem. The brain will develop normally with metopic synostosis despite the skull deformity. However, the keel in the middle of forehead is unsightly and a source of teasing. You will almost certainly regret not having it done. However, there is an option between endoscopic and open surgery. Endoscopic is effective & easier on your infant.

Metopic synostosis: Surgery is really the only option at present. Surgery for metopics is really based on how severe the synostosis is on examination. A mild ridge most do nothing. Severe ridge with dimpling lateral to the eyes and close set ears are the more concerning types.
