Metopic Craniosyn-: Ostosis accounts for ~ 40% of all single-suture synostosis. The metopic suture runs from the midline of the forehead to the anterior fontanelle premature fusion causes a ridge in the middle of the forehead & a triangular shape to the skull (trigonocephaly), with a small chance of increased intracranial pressure, language & learning delays, vision problems, or associated genetic syndromes.

Maybe: Craniosynostosis can be missed, but any good pediatrician should pick up on it provided your child has had routine pediatric visits. Unfortunately, I have personally seen the results of late diagnosis and have some strong feelings about this subject!

Craniosynostosis: Ridging along a metopic suture does not necessarily mean craniosynostosis. There are other findings associated with it that fit into the diagnosis of trigonocephaly. It is not too late for a diagnosis and a work up by a craniofacial surgeon might be helpful here for you.
