Possibilities...: You may need to have an ear/nose/throat doctor examine your vocal cords with a small scope (office procedure). Sometimes, there can be a nerve injury related to neck surgery that can cause vocal cord paralysis, leading to coughing. See your doctor so this can be arranged!
