A member asked:

What can i do about painful strep throat?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Antibiotic: If the throat culture is positive for streptococcus and it is considered the cause of your painful throat, then an appropriate oral antibiotic should relieve your symptoms promptly. Remember, there are carriers of this bacteria who are asymptomatic. Therefore, the doctor must know that this is the causative organism. If it is, then oral antibiotics are the treatment of choice.
