See below: You can use saline nasal spray and a nasal aspirator. However, i would not do either unless your child is having trouble sleeping or eating.

Check temp/nasal asp: I agree that nasal saline and gentle aspiration is important since babies breathe through their noses. I would suggest also checking your son's temperature, and calling your pediatrician for worsening or persistent symptoms. Most viral illnesses will resolve without treatment in 7 to 10 days.

Nasal wash: At 8 weeks the primary cause of congestion is the environment. House dust, fragrance, perfumes, detergent or cleaning products all leave scents that may not bother you but irritate a babies nose. A good nasal clean out with saline can remove much of this irritant load, but removing the offending irritants from babies life helps more in the long run.Air particle filters can also help.
