Yes: This can happen , especially when teeth "touch" each other...Either side by side or top and bottom.

Yes: Tooth decay is a bacterial infection of the teeth that is propagated by poor hygiene and eating a lot of sugary foods/beverages. The only way to treat is to remove the cavity and maintain good oral hygiene and healthy diet.

Decay: Research has shown that periodontal disease is transmissible from saliva transfer. We are lucky our bodies defenses to bacteria can fight this invasion when we are healthy. In some it can not. Tooth decay can spread to another if in direct contact with the tooth, ex. In between teeth from not flossing.
