Tooth decay : Tooth decay will not significantly change in a week. You can wait until your appointment without worrying. However if you have pain and swelling you should not wait a week.

No rush: Tooth decay causes demineralization and destruction of the hard tissues of the teeth and roots (enamel, dentin and cementum). This is relatively slow and progressive process and one week will not make any difference. Just keep your appointment.
