Yes: Anti-inflamatories such as ibuprophen, naproxen, are useful for both problems. Glucosameine type products will not help trigger finger.

No: There is not any evidence that any medication except cortisone injects help with trigger fingers.

Sometimes: Medications that are typically prescribed for joint arthritis include anti-inflammatory medications like aleve, (naproxen) motrin, etc. These medications can be helpful in temporarily alleviating pain symptoms from trigger finger. However, the long term efficacy of these medicines is not clear.
