SPINE headaches: Specifically, neck problems typically arising of disc and/or facet joint issues cause reactive tightening and pulling in the muscle in the back of the neck (which are trying to compensate and protect the underlying issues). Because these muscles attach to the back of the head, they can cause headaches from the neck up to the back of the head, and then forward frontally, on one or both sides.
