Matter-of-factly: Unless there is a reason to do otherwise, i would just recommend telling him that you went to the doctor and were diagnosed with depression. You could then tell him what the treatment plan is and that you're going to follow it and get better. If you haven't been to the doctor yet about your depression, i would do that.

Agree w Dr Smith: I would discuss it the same way one might if they had diabetes or a fracture. Depression doesn't mean personal weakness nor is it anything to be ashamed of. Take care.
