A member asked:

How can kidneys compensate for changes in the amout of dietary water and to regulate blood?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Water/salt balance: Salt and water balance is maintained by hormonal, tight regulation. The adrenal glands, other circulatory receptors, kidneys, lungs, heart and blood communicate together using hormones to establish this network. Imbalances signal the body to do different things, like retaining or excreting salt and/or water through the kidneys, increase/decrease heart rate/blood pressure and thirst mechanism.
