See below: Gallstones are made up of crystals that form in the gallbladder & can grow. They are of 2 main types, cholesterol or bulirubin (bile salts). These form when there is a chemical imbalance of too much of one of these components that then causes crystals & gallstones to form. More common in women & some south american native populations.
