See doc.: Hard to know even for docs. There is no "test" to prove it. Your story and exam are the most important elements of the diagnosis. A good and experienced doc is the best answer.

Rheumatologist: Questioner wants to know how diagnosis of fibromyalgia is made. Answer is that Rheumatology specialists are expert at making this diagnosis. The diagnosis includes identification of a constellation of symptoms and physical exam findings. Laboratory tests to ID fibromyalgia do not exist.
