Depends: Screening for colon cancer should begin at age 50 in patients not at identified risk. Colonoscopy every ten years ( or sooner depending upon findings) or fecal occult blood testing annually are both acceptable methods of screening for cancer. Sigmoidoscopy is also a possible option, but i personally do not favor it. See http://www.Uspreventiveservicestaskforce.Org.
